Welcome Back Dinner

One of the African American Cultural Center’s most anticipated signature programs, the Welcome Back Dinner is a cherished tradition that marks the beginning of the fall semester. Held every September, this event brings together students, faculty, staff, alumni, and local community members to celebrate the start of a new academic year at UConn in a spirit of unity and renewal.

More than just a meal, the Welcome Back Dinner serves as a meaningful space for reflection, recognition, and reconnection. Over the years, it has offered a platform to honor milestones and pay tribute to influential members of the African American community, both on and off campus. Whether celebrating achievements, acknowledging loss, or embracing new beginnings, the dinner fosters a sense of belonging and collective purpose.

Come share in an evening of food, fellowship, and inspiration as we kick off a new year together—rooted in history, grounded in community, and moving forward with purpose.
