CROWN Day — which stands for Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair — is an empowering celebration that uplifts Black identity, culture, and beauty by affirming the right to wear natural hair proudly and professionally, free from bias or discrimination. This annual event, hosted by the African American Cultural Center, stands as a bold expression of cultural pride and self-acceptance.
CROWN Day invites students, faculty, staff, and community members to participate in a vibrant day of education, celebration, and empowerment. Through interactive workshops, panel discussions, artistic showcases, and wellness activities, the event fosters meaningful dialogue about the intersections of hair, identity, professionalism, and personal freedom. It also provides a space for joy, creativity, and unapologetic authenticity.
Join us as we honor natural beauty, promote self-love, and build a more inclusive world—one curl, coil, and crown at a time.
